Founder and Principal Johanna is a Denver Native. She grew up in Denver’s Northside, now often referred to as the Highlands. She is a proud graduate of DPS schools (Edison, Skinner, and North)and was blessed to have had many powerful women mentors who encouraged her, directed, and influenced her. Her mother was a 6th generation Coloradoan from the San Luis Valley. She was a stay-at-home mom who also created a small drapery business out of their home to help the family. Through her natural networking and friend circles Lucille Leyba eventually got involved as a volunteer board member on various Latino-serving nonprofits including the Hispanic Annual Salute and the Latin American Education Foundation. She was active on all her kid’s school PTAs and eventually began working for the schools.
Lucille did not finish college but was a fierce advocate for kids from North High School interested in attending college, eventually serving as the director of a pilot project at North and West High Schools to support college matriculation. Her life was one of service to family, community, and kids and was the example by which Johanna built her own career.
After leaving work in higher education, Johanna decided to strike out on her own and created LGA Consulting - LeybaGurule and Associates, Consulting. Her vision was to mirror her experience at JVA Consulting in which Janine Vanderburge (one of her many mentors) built a consulting firm with highly talented people who had left careers and were looking for ways to use their talents and still have the flexibility for family or whatever other pursuits they had.
LGA has been able to attract an extremely talented team of contractors with a wide range of personal and professional experiences who are committed to using their gifts to support organizations and efforts that impact real and lasting change to systems for those who are often not best served by what has historically existed.
